Srinagar, Kashmir Dal lake's floating vegetable market

Between 6 and 7 am every morning there is a floating market on Dal Lake.  The small boats are called shikaras and they are used to transport all of the people and food out to the famous houseboats that were left behind by the british colonizers.  Thanks again to Jon Carolin for the image.

Gulmarg, Kashmir

This shot was taken by Jon Carolin on a typical day at Gulmarg.  This line is known as the "Shark Fin".  It is a 45 minute hike from the top of the gondola and is the true summit of Mt. Apherwat.  I try to ski this one when ever possible.

Srinagar, Kashmir

Srinagar, the summer capitol of Indian controlled Kashmir.  This image looks across Dal lake at the mosque and the Pir Panjal mountain range.  Over the past 2 winters, I have spent 6 months skiing powder and working in this area.  This winter I will go back to continue working on a project to promote tourism and train local skiers to be safe and responsible backcountry ski guides.  Big thanks to Jon Carolin for sharing this photograph.

Sunrise on K2, Charlie Houston remembered

First light on the summit of K2.  Imagine trying to climb this in 1938.  Then going back and trying again in 1953.  These epic expeditions were a small part of this incredible guys life.
